After weeks of anxiety and excitement, the Interabang Bookstore event was held this past Friday for True Nature. Thanks to all who came out, we had the place packed! The questions flowed, I blacked out and talked way too much, and the room took on a life of its own. For those of you who couldn’t attend, I know you were there in spirit.

It’s been a few weeks since I last sent you a weekly email. I was sick with the flu then pressed by the upcoming book event. My sensations got the best of me, an occurrence I’m increasingly curious about because it points to the heart of practice.
I ask myself: can I observe sensations objectively without identifying or reacting to them? Otherwise, in moments when I identify who I am with sensations, I notice I’m a slave to whatever arises in my experience. I tend to stick to doing only what’s pleasurable and avoid what’s unpleasurable.
The practice then is to see through sensations and recognize my true Self. This isn’t to say that we ignore sensations. Instead, we include them. We notice them, work with them, make a conscious decision, and in doing so, come out the other side transformed, more connected to our true Self.
I had a great conversation today with my movement teacher about organization, alignment, and potential. When we seek out a teacher, it’s usually because we see something in them that we want and don’t think we already possess. The job of the teacher is then to point the students back to themselves, to be a reflection for the students, and to give them the pieces they think they need to find organization, alignment, and potential.
This practice repeats as many times as needed until we find ourselves returned to alignment and organized toward our highest potential, our true Self (or, our True Nature).
Let’s keep practicing together. I’m constantly inspired by the work everyone is doing and who they are at their essence. I’d love to know what’s inspiring you at the moment and what you think is keeping you from happiness.
I think that’s all for now. I’ll continue to experiment with expressing and sharing through this email list. After this book event, I feel more space in my life.
Wishing you well.
Love,
David
